HIROTEC AMERICA, Inc. is Recognized by Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce with the Oakland University Innovator of the Year Award
Auburn Hills, MI., December 13, 2016 – HIROTEC AMERICA, Inc., a member of the global HIROTEC Group that specializes in the production of body-in-white closures, exhaust systems, and closure manufacturing equipment, announced they have been recognized by the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce with the Oakland University Innovator of the Year award.
HIROTEC AMERICA received this award for their horizontal hemming press, which has revolutionized the way automotive manufacturers hem a door’s outer panel over an inner panel. Through its cutting-edge design, this innovative hemming press houses four dies in a single structure, providing a 63% floor space savings, along with 75% energy or operations cost reduction over a traditional 4 model press set up. Additionally, the horizontal hemming press can accommodate reusing existing hem press components, which further reduces the initial capital investment.
“We are thrilled to be the recipient of the Oakland University Innovator of the Year award, as it provides testimony to HIROTEC AMERICA’s commitment to bringing forth never-before-seen technologies and processes,” stated Jim Toeniskoetter, HIROTEC AMERICA President & COO. “The horizontal hemming press is a perfect example of HIROTEC’s K2 philosophy (Kaizen, continuous improvement and Kaikaku, revolutionary change) as we continue to introduce new advanced technologies to our customers around the world.”
This is the second silver award for HIROTEC AMERICA who was honored in 2012 with the Cornerstone Community Financial Silver Award that acknowledged their growth and accomplishment throughout the year. Earlier this year, HIROTEC AMERICA also received the GM Supplier of the Year award for the 12th time, and the 22nd time for the HIROTEC Group.
